A project to create a national database of gun enthusiasts is "fundamentally flawed", according to a Lancashire police report. Officers in Lancashire and the London Metropolitan force have now had to rerun the pilot project, set up in the wake of the Dunblane killings 10 years ago, after problems getting the database to work with existing police systems emerged. The fault meant that the National Firearms Register pilot ran so slowly that it was effectively useless.... (GunPolicy.org)
