Parliamentary 'End Run' Aims to Kneecap Canada's Long Gun Registry

OTTAWA — Defying a united parliamentary opposition, the minority Conservative government moved to shut down the long-gun registry yesterday with a one-year prosecution amnesty for rifle and shotgun owners even though the law is still on the books.
In what critics called a deliberate "end run" around Parliament, the Conservatives say the amnesty will give gun owners "time to comply" with the current law without fear of prosecution even as the government moves to kill... (GunPolicy.org)
