Lawmaker's Gunshot Accident in State Capitol Won't Trigger Gun Ban

Senior lawmakers said yesterday they doubt a policy that allows citizens to bring legally permitted firearms into the state Capitol and General Assembly Building will change despite a lawmaker accidentally firing a pistol in his office.
The .380-caliber pistol of Del. John S. Reid, R-Henrico, accidentally discharged in his seventh-floor office in the General Assembly Building on Thursday morning as he was trying to unload it.
