Safety and Security Minister Charles Nqakula has asked Johannesburg taxi drivers to hand in their guns. But while they were enthusiastic in his presence, privately some were not so keen to heed his call. On Monday Nqakula visited the Noord Street taxi rank to encourage taxi drivers to hand their guns — legal or illegal — to the police in terms of the current amnesty.
