A pair of newspaper articles last week illustrated two unfortunate trends concerning guns. The first noted that Delaware has seen a 21 percent decline in hunting licenses over the past 20 years. The other reported that of the 182 shootings in the city of Wilmington between Jan. 1, 1999, and March 31, 2002, 94 percent were committed with handguns.
