Hayward Man in Custody; Assault Rifle Used

EL SOBRANTE — Apparently angered over being prohibited from speaking to the congregation, a man opened fire at a Sikh temple Sunday, killing a temple official and wounding at least one other man.
Police identified the suspect in custody as Joga Singh Sandher, 35, of Hayward, believed to be a limousine driver in Union City. Temple members subdued him after the shooting and held him for police.
