The decision by an Alberta court judge to give a woman a firearms licence in northeastern Alberta cannot be allowed to stand. In a written decision released on Monday, provincial court Judge Don Demetrick said that Brenda Pogson must be given a firearms licence because ordinary Canadians need guns to protect themselves, at home and in the woods.
