There's no one answer for easing gun violence in Detroit, but getting a better grip on the flow of illegal guns is a start. Most of the weapons involved in crimes in Detroit — and around the nation — are not, themselves, illegal. Legal guns are often purchased or obtained illegally, sometimes by straw purchasers who then sell the guns to criminals who, legally, can't own guns.
