Meeting Between Clinton Officials, Gun Makers Fails

WASHINGTON — Plans for the Clinton administration and gun makers to meet in January for the first time to discuss lawsuits against the industry collapsed because of a minority of manufacturers apparently opposed to a deal, Housing Secretary Andrew Cuomo said on Monday.
"We had a meeting scheduled in Las Vegas with the gun manufacturers. Some of the manufacturers opposed sitting down. That meeting was called off," Cuomo said in a telephone conference call.
