Total Number of Gun Deaths
Definition and Selection Criteria

The reported, estimated or calculated annual total of firearm-related deaths, by years descending.

This total includes gun homicide, gun suicide, unintentional fatal shootings, gun deaths for which the cause or intent remains undetermined and fatal firearm-related 'legal intervention' killings, for example law enforcement shootings found to be justifiable homicides.

This figure may be a total from a single source, or the sum of figures from different sources for the same year.
