The percentage of homicides in Australia that are committed using firearms is slightly higher than in England and Wales (8%) (Coleman 2008) but is much lower than in Canada (31%) (Li 2007) and the United States (68%) (CIUS 2006).

None of these other nations is displaying such a strong decrease in firearm homicides over time as is Australia.
