Artículo 11. Importación

A los efectos del presente Decreto-Ley, se considera importación, a la introducción en el territorio nacional de armas, sus accesorios (piezas, cañones de repuesto, caja o cajón de los mecanismos, cierre o cerrojo, tambor o masa) y municiones por personas naturales y jurídicas, a través de los puertos y aeropuertos autorizados.
Como requisito previo a la tramitación del acto importador, el interesado debe presentar al Ministerio del Interior el documento legal que ampare la autorización de salida del país de origen, de las armas, sus accesorios y municiones, a partir de lo cual se emite el correspondiente permiso de importación, el que debe ser mostrado a las autoridades aduaneras a su arribo al país.

Decree-Law No. 262 of 2008, on Arms and Ammunition

Article 11. Import

Under the effects of the present Decree-Law, "import" refers to the introduction into the national territory of arms, their accessories (parts, spare barrels, the components of the receiver of the weapon, lock or bolt, cylinder, firing pin or striker) and ammunition for natural and legal persons, through authorised ports and airports.
As a requirement prior to the processing of the importing act, the applicant must provide the Ministry of the Interior with a legal document that grants them the authorisation to leave with the arms, accessories and ammunition from their country of origin. The corresponding importing permit will be issued after and must be shown to Customs authorities upon their entry into the country.
