Registro de Armas y Evidencia Balística

Artículo 17. Crease el Registro Nacional de Armas, como una dependencia de la Secretaría de Estado en el Despacho de Seguridad y tendrá entre otras responsabilidades en el manejo de un banco de evidencias balísticas. Toda arma de fuego antes de su venta legal por las armerías deberá previamente, ser registrada balísticamente en dicho registro, y los datos de la venta serán reportados a la oficina indicada.

No se extenderá permiso de portación de armas, si no se efectúa previamente el registro balístico, y el pago de la matricula, en la Municipalidad del domicilio del tenedor. Las personas naturales podrán registrar un máximo de cinco (5) armas, excepto lo previsto en el Artículo 32 de la presente Ley. En lo referente a la compra de municiones y lo relativo a las personas jurídicas, un reglamento establecerá los límites y modalidades.

Firearms and Ballistic Registration

Article 17. The National Register of Firearms, a department established within the Office of the Secretariat of Security [National Police], shall be responsible for managing the bank of ballistic evidence, in addition to other responsibilities. Any firearm, before it is legally sold through a gunsmith, must be previously registered in the aforementioned registry, and information regarding the sale will be reported to the relevant office.

The licence to carry firearms shall not be granted without prior ballistic registration, and payment of the licensing fees, to the municipality of the holder's residence. Individuals may register a maximum of five (5) firearms, except as provided in article 32 of this Law. Regarding the purchase of ammunition and legal entities, a regulation will establish the limits and procedures.
