Artículo 44. (Armas Antiguas, Históricas y de Colección)

I. Son consideradas armas antiguas o históricas, aquellas que previa certificación del laboratorio de pruebas y de la Academia Boliviana de Historia Militar, sean declaradas como tales por el Ministerio de Defensa. A los efectos de la presente Ley se consideran:

a) Armas antiguas, las fabricadas antes del año 1899.
b) Armas históricas, declaradas expresamente, se constituyen en patrimonio histórico del Estado.
c) Se considera arma de colección, a toda aquella cuya tenencia responda sólo a fines de exposición.

II. El Ministerio de Gobierno autorizará la tenencia de armas de colección y antiguas, debiendo ser registradas ante el REAFUC.

III. Las armas antiguas, históricas y de colección, deberán mantenerse de forma definitiva en condiciones que impidan su utilización como armas de fuego.

Article 44. (Antique, Historical and Collectable Firearms)

I. Firearms considered to be antiques or historical items are those that have been given a certificate by a test laboratory and the Bolivian Academy of Military History, and are declared as such by the Ministry of Defence. For the purpose of this Law the following are included:

a) Ancient weapons are those manufactured before 1899.
b) Historical weapons are a constitutional historical heritage of the state.
c) Weapons that are used for display purposes are considered gun collectors items.

II. The Ministry of the Interior authorises the possession of weapons that are antiques and collectibles. These weapons must be registered with the REAFUC.

III. Weapons that are antiques, historic and collectables should be kept permanently under conditions that prevent them from being used.
