Among all violent incidents reported by the Phnom Penh Post, the use of firearms declined from 80 per cent in 1994 to 30 per cent. The hospital admissions data indicates a similar trend. In 1993, 65 per cent of victims of assault admitted to hospital had suffered from bullet wounds. By 2004 this figure had fallen to just 2.6 per cent.
