Private Sales in Alabama

Alabama has no law requiring a background check on the purchaser of a firearm when the seller is not a licensed dealer.

Alabama law prohibits anyone from delivering a handgun (but not a long gun) to any person he or she has reasonable cause to believe has been convicted of a crime of violence, or is a drug addict, a habitual drunkard, or of unsound mind.
