Marking, Amnesty, Number of Firearms Held by Civilians

Currently marking of weapons held by the organized forces and removal of civilian held firearms is proceeding simultaneously with the development of these legislative instruments. The hope is that these two processes will finally meet at the conclusion of all the works on these pieces of legislation and regulation.

On the number of weapons in the country, we do not have a very reliable estimate on the number of firearms circulating in the country but we use 3 million as an estimate. This estimate was also used in the documentary 'Living with guns' Available at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awtI6gvyeXU
