Système Intégré d'Identification Balistique
L'acquisition par l'Algérie de la technologie IBIS (Système Intégré d'Identification Balistique) est intervenue pour conforter les services d'expertise, suite à l'accroissement des demandes induites par la recrudescence des actes criminels, permettant d'assurer l'efficacité de la lutte antiterroriste et de standardiser la pratique des expertises balistiques en fonction des normes appliquées par les Instituts de recherche criminalistique référentiels
Le Système IBIS est un système central informatise d'enregistrement de données d'expertises d'empreintes balistiques concernant:
- ]es douilles, les balles, les fragments de balles et les armes à feu de différents calibres et marques a expertiser dans le cadre des enquêtes criminelles;
-les armes à feu en détention légale et leurs propriétaires.
Il permet d'établir des corrélations précises entre un spécimen de douille ou balle et une base de données constituée de spécimen préalablement enregistres et ce, à une vitesse très élevée par rapport au microscope de comparaison.
L'utilisation de cette technologie permet également de renforcer la politique d'assurance qualité dans l'accréditation et la certification de nos laboratoires de criminalistique en fonction des standards internationaux appliques en la matière.

Integrated Ballistics Identification System
The acquisition by Algeria of the IBIS (Integrated Ballistics Identification System) technology has allowed it to bolster expert services, following the increased demands generated by the increase in crime, to ensure the effectiveness of counter-terrorism and to standardise the practice of ballistics to the standards applied by the Institutes of forensic repositories
The IBIS system is a central computerized data-keeping record, registering expert data on ballistic imprints:
- The cartridge cases, bullets, bullet fragments and the firearms of different calibres and brands to identify in criminal investigations;
- Lawfully owned firearms and their owners.
It allows the establishment of precise correlations between specimens of cartridge cases and bullets in a database of previously recorded specimens, at a very high speed relative to microscope comparison.
The use of this technology can also strengthen the policy of quality assurance concerning accreditation and certification of our forensic laboratories according to the international standards in this matter.
