Law Enforcement and Penalties

According to the Act of 18 December 1987 relating to control of the export of strategic goods, services, technology, persons resident or staying in Norway, as well as Norwegian companies, foundations and associations, are prohibited from trading, negotiating or otherwise assisting in the sale of arms and defence materiel from one foreign country to another without special permission.

Unless the matter is subject to a more severe penalty otherwise provided by statute, a penalty may be imposed of fines or imprisonment for up to five years, or both.
