Article 8: Requirements for the Acquisition of a Licence for Firearm Possession and Carriage

Any person seeking a licence for possession and carriage of a firearm shall meet the following conditions:

1. to submit a letter to the Commissioner General of the National Police justifying his/her application;

2. to be a person of integrity;

3. to be at least twenty-one (21) years of age;

4. to have a medical certificate issued by an authorized medical doctor stating that he/she has no mental illness;

5. to have a certificate stating that he/she has practical firearm handling skills issued by the National Police;

6. not have been sentenced to a term of imprisonment equal to or exceeding six (6) months;

7. to show a legally recognised licence for firearm possession and carriage for a foreigner who is in possession thereof.
