Article 42:

Sans préjudice des autres dispositions légales applicables en la matière, est puni d'une peine d'emprisonnement de deux à cinq ans et d'une amende de 2.500.000 FC, quiconque détient et fait usage d'une arme à feu sans permis ou autorisation de port d'armes délivré par l'autorité compétente.

Article 42:

Without prejudice to the other legal provisions on the subject, any person who possesses and uses a firearm without a permit or authorisation to carry firearms issued by the competent authority, is punishable by a prison term of 2 to 5 years and a fine of 2,500,000 CF.

[Note: This is the Proposed Act to amend the Ordinance 'Law No 085/035 of September 3, 1985, on the Regime of Arms and Ammunition', in line with the Nairobi Protocol for the Prevention, Control and Reduction of Small Arms and Light Weapons. The first 30 articles of the 2010 Proposed Act are relatively unchanged from the 1985 Law.]
