22. Prohibition of Importation or Exportation of Arms and Ammunition Without Permit

(1) Subject to the provisions of subsection (2), no person shall, except on behalf of the State, import into or export from Namibia any arms or ammunition, including any arms or ammunition in transit through Namibia to any place outside Namibia, except under the authority of and in accordance with a permit issued under section 23.

(2) The provisions of subsection (1) shall not apply in respect of the importation of any arm by the holder of a licence issued under this Act to possess that arm or the importation, together with that arm, of ammunition capable of being fired there from.
