Statistics on Illicit Trafficking in Small Arms and Light Weapons Registered in Latvia

In January of 2003, 39 cases of illegal manufacture, acquisition, possession and sale of firearms were registered. Compared to January of 2002, when 31 such cases were registered, their number has increased by 8. However, in 2003 no criminal offences were registered involving the manufacture, keeping and trafficking of firearms involving criminal groups.

In 2003, the Office of the State Police Fighting Organized Crime, in their work to solve crimes, confiscated:
