8. Requirements relating to animal welfare

An applicant for a licence whose genuine reason for possessing or using firearms is animal welfare must be:

(a) an officer of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals established in the Territory; or

(b) a registered veterinarian or registered veterinarian specialist, within the meaning of the Veterinarians Act;

(c) a person employed by or in an Agency, within the meaning of the Public Sector Employment and Management Act, or a government or local government council, responsible for animal welfare; or

(d) an owner, transporter, drover or other handler of animals who may need to destroy animals to avoid suffering.

[The Act referred to in this Regulation is the Firearms Act 1997]
