Of the authentic handguns seized in 2000, 214 were American handguns, accounting for the largest share at about 26.4% of the total, followed by Philippine and Chinese handguns. With regard to the seizure of handguns after 1996, handguns smuggled from these three countries have accounted for a little over 50% of the total handguns seized.

By type of handgun, the handguns illegally manufactured in Philippines, (so-called "CRS-type) were the most recovered handguns among the authentic handguns confiscated in 2000 (86 guns), and more than the Tokarev-type and S&W-made that were the most recovered handguns in 1999.
