Disposal of Certain Firearms and Ammunition

6.(1) Any firearm or ammunition which comes into the custody or possession of the police force otherwise than by seizure or by order of a competent court shall be destroyed or otherwise disposed of as the Commissioner of Police may direct:
Provided that -
a) the destruction or other disposition of a firearm shall not be made until after the 31st March in the year following that in which the firearm came into custody or possession of the police force; and
b) on the production of a valid firearm licence in respect of such a firearm, at any time before its destruction or other disposition, by a person who satisfies the Commissioner of Police that he is entitled to the possession of such firearm, the Commissioner1 of Police may deliver the firearm to that person.
