The confiscation of firearms is commonplace in the region, as security forces carry out routine weapon seizures and collect firearms at crime scenes or in raids. The chart below shows that the quantities of weapons seized vary according to each country's crime rate. As a result, Guatemala and El Salvador far outweigh the seizures in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
