The survey data confirms that the ownership and access to firearms are male dominated. Men in Albania hold the overwhelming majority of firearms as civilians, and as employees within state agencies and private entities that are authorized to hold firearms. Middle-aged men comprised the majority of firearm license-holders and civilian firearms owners across all firearm categories in Albania, with few female firearm license-holders.
