In Czechia, the origin of surrendered firearms during amnesty campaigns provides insight into the country's problem with non-regularisation. Most of the weapons surrendered were acquired through inheritance, have been found during building (re)construction or were once hidden in attics or basements, for example, before being recovered.

According to firearms experts of the Czech Ministry of Interior, hiding non-regularised firearms is common in Czechia as a response to repeated experiences of previous foreign occupations during both the Second World War and the Cold War among other reasons.
