Law on the Circulation of Goods of Strategic Significance

Section 2. Purpose of this Law

(1) The purpose of this Law is to ensure controlled circulation of goods of strategic significance according to the national and international interests of the Republic of Latvia, the requirements of international export control regimes and to deflect the proliferation of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, and also to deflect the threat of international terrorism.

(2) The circulation of goods of strategic significance shall take place in accordance with this Law, the international obligations of the Republic of Latvia, the requirements of international export control regimes - the Australia Group, the Wassenaar Arrangement, the Missile Technology Control Regime and the Nuclear Suppliers Group -, and also Regulation No 428/2009 and other laws and regulations governing the circulation of goods of strategic significance.
