Allocation of Firearms

Article 6

Firearms for civil use may be allocated to the following units:

(1) Sports guns may be allocated to units engaged in competitive target-shooting sports that have been approved by the sports asministrative organs under the people's government at the provincial level, and to commercial shooting ranges that have been approved by the public security organs of the people's government at the provincial level;

(2) Hunting rifles may be allocated to hunting fields that have been approved by the competent forestry administrative organs under the people's government at the provincial level and above;

(3) Scientific research units engaged in wild-life protection and breeding may be allocated with hunting rifles and anesthetic injection guns.

Hunters and herdsmen may apply for allocation of hunting rifles in hunting and pastoral areas that have been designated by the people's government at provincial level.

Specific methods of firearm allocation for civil use shall be formulated by the public security organs under the State Council in line with the principle of strict control and shall come into force after the ratification of State Council.
