1. How many lawfully owned firearms are registered or licensed to private citizens in your country?

The Arms Act 1983 does not provide for the registration of all firearms. The Arms Legislation Act 2020 introduces the requirement for licence holders to begin to register all firearms they possess. This process is planned to commence by 24 June 2023 and to be completed over five years. The aim is to have a comprehensive register by the end of 2028. Until then it is therefore not possible to provide an answer to your first question.

2. In the last calendar year (or for the most recent year in which data is available), how many small arms were collected or seized by the security forces of your country?

With regard to your second question please find below the time series of firearms seized by New Zealand Police broken down by firearms type and for the years ended 30 June.
