§ 11. (1) Der Besitz von Waffen, Munition und Knallpatronen ist Menschen unter 18 Jahren verboten.
(2) Die Behörde kann auf Antrag des gesetzlichen Vertreters Menschen nach Vollendung des 16. Lebensjahres für Schusswaffen der Kategorie C Ausnahmen vom Verbot des Abs. 1 für jagdliche oder sportliche Zwecke bewilligen, wenn der Jugendliche verlässlich und reif genug ist, die mit dem Gebrauch von Waffen verbundenen Gefahren einzusehen und sich dieser Einsicht gemäß zu verhalten.
(3) Abs. 1 gilt nicht, wenn und insoweit Waffen und Munition bei der beruflichen Ausbildung Jugendlicher im Rahmen eines gesetzlich anerkannten Lehr- oder Ausbildungsverhältnisses benötigt werden.
(4) Rechtsgeschäfte, die dem Verbot des Abs. 1 zuwiderlaufen, sind nichtig, soweit keine Ausnahme gemäß Abs. 2 bewilligt wurde.
(5) Sportliche Zwecke im Sinne des Abs. 2 umfassen auch die Mitgliedschaft in einer traditionellen Schützenvereinigung; eine Bewilligung gemäß Abs. 2 für ein Mitglied einer traditionellen Schützenvereinigung ist auf den in § 35 Abs. 2 Z 3 umschriebenen Umfang beschränkt.

Section 2 General Provisions

§ 11. (1) The possession of weapons, ammunition and detonating cartridges is prohibited to persons under the age of 18.
(2) Upon application by the legal representative, the authorities may grant exceptions from the prohibition in subsection 1 for firearms of category C for hunting or sporting purposes to persons after the age of 16, if the young person is reliable and mature enough to understand the dangers associated with the use of weapons and to behave in accordance with this understanding.
(3) Para. 1 shall not apply if and to the extent that weapons and ammunition are required for the vocational training of juveniles within the framework of a legally recognised apprenticeship or training relationship.
(4) Legal transactions that contravene the prohibition in subsection 1 shall be null and void unless an exception has been granted in accordance with subsection 2.
(5) Sporting purposes within the meaning of subsection 2 shall also include membership in a traditional shooting association; a licence pursuant to subsection 2 for a member of a traditional shooting association shall be limited to the scope circumscribed in section 35(2)(3).
