In Santiago, on October 30, 2017, in accordance with the provisions of Article 23 of Law No. 17.798 on "Arms Control", which states that the Public Prosecutor's Office and Courts of Justice shall keep in storage both in Arsenals of War and in the Central Depot of Arms, as appropriate, the objects and instruments of crime subject to control, until the end of the respective procedure, a situation that will also occur with weapons and other controlled elements retained in customs due to irregularities in their importation or internment, and those arms and elements with respect to which their retention or seizure is ordered for any reason;

In this act, 7,412 short and long weapons were destroyed, which had previously been rendered unusable. Of these, 4,137 were confiscated and 3,275 were voluntarily surrendered, all of which have been duly identified in this report and destroyed by being completely melted down on the premises of the company GERDAU AZA[…]
