Article 20
Weapons and Explosives Department

The Department of Weapons and Explosives is part of the General Command and has the following specific functions:

a) to issue opinions on the suitability of applicants for licences to use and carry arms, in accordance with the law in force;

(b) to ensure the control and safekeeping of arms, ammunition and explosives, seized under applicable legislation;

(c) to provide support for inspections to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including the manufacture, import, export, trade, transport and use of weapons and explosives;

(d) in coordination with local police forces, to examine and investigate sites and equipment in which incidents involving weapons or explosives occur;

(e) to organise and maintain a registration system of authorised weapons;

f) other activities within the scope of its mission.
