In 2012, criminal investigation units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Central Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other departments of the Ministry carried out 54 regional preventive operations to prevent illicit trafficking in weapons, ammunition, explosive substances and explosive devices. In the course of the measures against the violation of rules on storage and illicit trafficking, 8,444 firearms were seized, including 29 automatic weapons, 125 rifles, 87 carbines, 1 machine gun, 207 pistols and 73,500 cartridges…
