Constitución Política de Colombia. Leyes:
- Ley 599 de 2000, por la cual se expide el Código Penal.
- Ley 737 de 2002, por medio de la cual se aprueba la "Convención Interamericana contra la fabricación y el tráfico ilícito de armas de fuego, municiones, explosivos, y otros materiales relacionados" adoptada en Washington D.C., el catorce (14) de noviembre de mil novecientos noventa y siete (1997).
- Ley 1119 de 2006, por la cual se actualizan los registro y permisos vencidos para el control al porte y tenencia de las armas de fuego y se dictan otras disposiciones.
- Ley 1453 de 2011, por medio de la cual se reforma el Código Penal, el Código de Procedimiento Penal, el Código de Infancia y Adolescencia, las reglas sobre extinción de dominio y se dictan otras disposiciones en materia de seguridad.
