50. Penalties

1) Any person in possession of a firearm without a valid license, permit or authorization commits an offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years or a fine to be determined by the court, or both.

2) Any person who tampers with any marking on a firearm commits an offence punishable with imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years and a fine to be determined by the court, or both.

3) Any licence holder who fails to comply with the provisions of section 47 (1) commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine to be determined by the courts, suspension of his or her licence, or both.
