Operation Secure Phase I was conducted from July 2005 to June 2006 to audit a percentage of licensed firearms owners to ensure compliance with storage requirements under the Firearms Act 1977.

Operation Secure Phase II was then conducted from July 2006 to June 2007…

During the operation, a total of 1,810 licensed firearm owners were audited, 362 firearms were seized, 88 were surrendered and a further 40 unregistered firearms located.
