Section 18. Certificate of fitness to keep or use firearms

(1) No licence to keep or carry firearms shall be granted to any person unless he has attained the age of eighteen years and obtained and delivered to the Licensing Authority a certificate from the Commissioner of Police that he is a fit and proper person to be granted a licence to keep or carry firearms.

(2) The Commissioner of Police shall not grant a certificate under this section unless he is satisfied that the applicant is a fit and proper person to carry and use a firearm.

(3) A certificate granted under this section may state the number of cartridges or the quantity of ammunition to be used with the firearm to be licensed and such certificate shall remain in force until cancelled by the Commissioner of Police for good cause…

(6) Every certificate delivered to the Licensing Authority under this section shall be in the Form G in the First Schedule, adapted to suit the particular purpose, and such certificate shall be filed in the Treasury.
