Articulo 57. Requisitos…

El examen de aptitud para el uso de armas de fuego de uso civil será aplicado a través de tres (3) evaluaciones:

1. Evaluación física y mental realizada por peritos médicos, psicólogos o psiquiatras, misma que habilita a la capacitación y evaluación teórica y práctica;

2. Evaluación Teórica: Conocimientos generales de la normativa vigente relacionada y medidas de seguridad para el uso de armas de fuego. En caso de reprobación podrá someterse a una segunda evaluación y en caso de reprobación por segunda vez, podrá volver a pasar los cursos de capacitación y someterse a una nueva evaluación;

3. Evaluación Práctica: Sobre uso de armas y medidas de seguridad. En caso de reprobación podrá someterse a una segunda evaluación y si reprueba por segunda vez, podrá volver a pasar la capacitación y evaluación.

Las y los miembros de organizaciones de tiro con fines deportivos autorizadas y los solicitantes de autorización de instrucción de tiro deportivo, quedan exentos del valorado y de la evaluación práctica, previa presentación del documento que acredite su pertenencia a estas organizaciones.

Las y los solícitantes de la Licencia de Armas de Fuego Antiguas y de Colección, Clase "D", quedan exentos de la evaluación práctica.

Article 57. Requirements…

The exam to assess fitness to carry firearms for civil use shall be carried out by means of three assessments:

1. A physical and mental evaluation carried out by medical staff, psychologists or psychiatrists, the same [evaluation] that enables [the applicant to go through] the theoretical and practical assessment;

2. Theoretical Evaluation: General understanding of the current legislation and security measures for the use of firearms. Should the applicant fail to pass the test he may sit for another exam, and in the event of a second rejection, he may re-take the exam preparation courses and sit for another test altogether;

3. Practical Evaluation: Use of firearms and security measures. Should the applicant fail to pass the test he may sit for another exam, and in the event of a second rejection, he may re-take the exam preparation courses and sit for another test altogether.

Members of authorised shooting associations for sporting purposes and applicants for an authorisation to teach sports shooting are exempted from the evaluation and practical tests, upon providing documents testifying to their membership of the aforementioned associations.

Applicants for an Antique and Collectable Firearms Licence, Class D, are exempted from the practical evaluation.
