Artículo 22. Registro de armas

Para el manejo del Registro Nacional de Armas de Fuego y Municiones, la DIASP tendrá las siguientes facultades:

1. Registrar las pruebas de balística de todas las armas de fuego.
2. Registrar las armas de fuego empleadas por los servidores públicos de las instituciones y dependencias de la Administración Pública que, por razón de sus cargos o funciones, requieran utilizar armas de fuego.
3. Llevar un registro electrónico de los certificados y licencias otorgados a personas naturales y jurídicas para la comercialización, tenencia y porte de armas de fuego, municiones y materiales relacionados, el registro de las pruebas de balística de las armas de fuego y la lista actualizada de los comercios y asociaciones deportivas que vendan armas de fuego, municiones y materiales relacionados. Esta información deberá ser resguardada por un plazo no menor de diez años.
4. Llevar un registro electrónico de toda información estadística relacionada con el registro de armas de fuego y municiones.
5. Recibir, almacenar y custodiar las armas de fuego que sean depositadas por particulares o por orden judicial.
6. Realizar el marcaje de las armas de fuego en los casos que corresponda de conformidad con esta Ley y su reglamento.
7. Ejercer las demás actividades ordenadas por la ley.

Article 22. Firearms Registry

For the management of the National Registry of Firearms and Ammunition, DIASP has the following powers:

1. Register ballistic tests on all firearms.
2. Register firearms used by public servants of institutions and agencies of the Government who, because of their duties or functions, are required to use firearms.
3. Keep an electronic register of certificates and licences granted to individuals and legal persons for the commerce, possession and carrying of firearms, ammunition, and related materials, record ballistic tests on firearms, and [keep] an up-to-date list of dealers and sports associations that sell firearms, ammunition and related material. This information shall be kept for no less then ten years.
4. Keep an electronic register of all statistical information related to the registration of firearms and ammunition.
5. Receive, store and keep in custody firearms deposited by individuals or by court order.
6. Carry out firearms marking whenever applicable and in accordance with this Act and its regulation.
7. Exercise any other activities mandated by law.
