The National Agency for Controlled Materials (ANMaC) -a decentralized entity that has been operating since 2015 within the scope of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of the Nation, also known as the former RENAR- is in charge of applying and supervising compliance with this law.

There are currently 1,562,332 weapons registered with the ANMaC in our country, of which 84% belong to civilians , according to official data. There are no statistics on the number of illegal weapons in circulation, but - according to an investigation published by Chequeado - the Agency itself estimates that there are another million and a half weapons on the black market. Civilian sector assessments say there are four million.
[1,562,332 registered weapons (84% in civilian hands) = 1,312,358]

According to a study by the political scientist Diego Sanjurjo, a pre-doctoral researcher at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the Autonomous University of Madrid, the civilian arsenal of small arms in Argentina amounts to 3,600,000 firearms
