Hunting Permits for 3,500 Firearms Revoked

Hunting permits for 3,500 firearm licensees have been revoked, said Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
He said the revocation of the licences was made to stop illegal poaching activities which appeared to be rampant in the country.
"We have issued about 8,500 firearm licences and out of that number, 3,500 holders have been disqualified for hunting while the rest will be withdrawn in stages.

Malaysia Shuts Down North Korean Arms Trafficking Firms

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's authorities were aware that two North Korea-linked companies operated an arms business in the country and both were being struck from the Company Registry, the police chief said on Tuesday.
Reuters reported on Monday that North Korean intelligence ran an arms operation out of Malaysia called Glocom, and two companies linked to the trade were International Global System and International Golden Services.

Malaysia Reports 445 Gun Homicides Since 2008 - Minister

There have been 445 murders using firearms over the last eight years, Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
In a written reply in the Dewan Rakyat today, he said the highest number of murders took place in 2013 with 95 cases, while the lowest numbers were recorded in 2011 with 36 cases.
He was asked by Sim Chee Keong (DAP-Bukit Mertajam) on the number of firearm-linked murders.

90,000 Registered Private Firearms in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 89,771 Malaysians have been issued licences to bear arms ranging from rifles to stun guns.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the licences were issued as of Dec 31 last year.
"Of the number, 12,917 licences were for pistols, 1,789 for revolvers and 2,243 for rifles," he said when submitting a written reply to Nga Kor Ming (DAP-Taiping) in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday.

GEORGE TOWN - The Penang police logistics and management division has been directed to buck up.
State police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said the division should do more to check on asset management following the discovery of missing firearms and other items between 2010 and last year.

MIRI - Two men were arrested in a police raid late Friday evening for illegal possession of firearms.
