Hundreds of Russian and Italian Guns Found in Cyprus Port

Turkish Cypriot police discovered 645 guns, of which 318 automatic and 327 rifles, in a container about to be loaded on 'Rizokarpaso' cargo vessel in the Famagusta port, Turkish Cypriot press reported on Friday.
Two hundred of the guns are Russian-made Baikals, and the rest Italian-made Benellis, Brownings, Berettas and Winchesters.

Gun Sellers Want Harsher Penalties for Poachers in Cyprus

The gun sellers' association has called for legislation with harsher penalties for poachers, saying that registered hunters have nothing to do with illegal actions reported in recent days, including the killings of the protected moufflon.

UK Man Wanted on Firearms Charges Arrested in Cyprus

A man convicted of firearms offences who went on the run after being released on licence has been arrested in Cyprus.
Louis Larsson, 29, from Bolton, was arrested in Paphos, the popular holiday resort in the south of the island, after a joint operation by Greater Manchester Police and the National Crime Agency.
It is understood armed Cypriot police were also involved in the arrest.

United Nations Turns Greek Cypriot Weapons to Scrap

NICOSIA, Cyprus — Greek Cypriot guns were being turned into scrap by the United Nations on Thursday in what has been billed as a goodwill gesture to Turkish Cypriots in the divided island.
Some 4,500 weapons, including automatic rifles and heavy machine guns, were being destroyed by peacekeepers in a U.N. compound straddling the divided capital Nicosia.
