Boston Herald
Federal investigators say they have linked "criminal activity" to weapons sold by a Norton hunter whose "We Are Guns" Web site was allegedly doing a bang-up business in illegal arms sales until he was busted last Thursday.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Glenn MacKinlay declined to say how many weapons or which towns they wound up in because their investigation into Richard Feinberg, 56, remains open.
Even without a federal dealer's license, Feinberg succeeded in purchasing... (GunPolicy.org)

The Conservative Party says it would scrap the 1995 law establishing a national registry for rifles and shotguns. The imperilled legislation has special resonance in Montreal.
In response to a gunman's slaughter of 14 women at Ecole Polytechnique in 1989, innumerable students and ordinary citizens joined forces with police officers, public-health officials and politicians of all stripes to push for tougher restrictions on firearms. Two North Pole legislators want to give people more leeway to defend themselves or others from serious crimes such as robbery or rape.
A bill sponsored by the Republicans expands the circumstances during which a person can use deadly force in self-defense.
It's a carbon copy of a bill passed in the Florida Legislature last year. Passage of similar bills across the nation is being encouraged by the National Rifle Association.

19 January 2006
Canadian Press
MONTREAL — A coalition of gun-control advocates urged the front-running Conservative party Thursday to leave Canada's gun laws alone if they win next week's federal election.
The Coalition for Gun Control is worried the Conservatives may be pressured by lobby groups such as the National Firearms Association.
"Our biggest fear is because of the power of the gun lobby in Canada, we are going to see gun control dismantled," coalition president Wendy Cukier told a... (GunPolicy.org)

Britain, Ireland, Jamaica Banned Guns, and Crime Soared, Says Prof
19 January 2006
Vancouver 24hrs / CNews
Where there's a market, there's a salesman — gun ban or not.
That's according to SFU researcher Gary Mauser, who suggested Liberal Leader Paul Martin's proposed gun ban won't make a dent in reducing gun-related crime in Canada.
While the number of gang-related homicides has reached "epidemic" proportions — with handguns the gangs' weapon of choice — research doesn't show gun bans will make any difference.
Britain, Ireland and Jamaica have all imposed gun... (GunPolicy.org)
