A protest march by the Black Gun Owners Association (BGOA) misfired on Tuesday, it transpired that many of the "protesters" had come to Pretoria in the hope of getting jobs.
Protesters claimed they had been told by the organiser and BGOA chairman, Abios Khoele, that a new munitions factory in Pretoria was looking for staff.
Johnson Maimela, from Thokoza, said he had been promised a job at a "bullet-making factory" by Abios.

Tasmania Rules Out Weaker Gun Laws

The Tasmanian Government says it has no intention to water down gun control measures.
The National Coalition for Gun Control had raised concerns that a Tasmanian Government review of the Act could see an end to the 28-day cooling off period for the purchase of second and subsequent weapons.
The review has been underway for almost two years.

BUENOS AIRES — A 15-year-old student drew a handgun and opened fire in a school classroom in southern Argentina on Tuesday, killing four classmates and wounding five, authorities said.
Police said the shooting came minutes before the start of classes in the Islas Malvinas public school in Carmen de Patagones, a city some 600 miles south of Buenos Aires.

The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved a bill yesterday repealing most of the District's gun laws, in a vote that handed an election-season victory to gun rights groups and was denounced by the city's leaders as a historic violation of home rule.
