Members of the Little Gables Neighborhood Association are steaming about a pawn shop on Eighth Street that has gotten into the firearms business even though its license limits it to selling jewelry and art work. The shop is not subtle about its wares: A blue gun shines bright across the store front; underneath, a red neon sign spells out the word "GUNS." A Tec-9 — a semi-automatic assault weapon-is encased for window display. Members of the association for the... (GunPolicy.org)

Firearms dealers came under assault Saturday when an antigun activist tipped tables and broke guns at one of the last major gun shows before Colorado's new background-check law takes effect. Gun dealers and an off-duty police officer subdued and handcuffed the activist at the Crossroads of the West Gun Show at the Holiday Inn on Chambers Road and Interstate 70 in Aurora. KENNEBUNK, Maine — In remote Aroostook County, demand was so hot the supply ran out in a few hours. The same happened in Bangor. In October The Sunday Times revealed how Nottinghamshire police had put officers on the beat with Walther P990 automatic pistols after seeing five drug-related shootings a week in the county. The patrols, credited by police with a significant fall in firearms incidents, were part of a project... (GunPolicy.org)

A year ago, Utah lawmakers were considering 39 pieces of legislation dealing with guns — whether to ban them from schools and churches, how to ensure safe storage, how to keep them from criminals and the mentally ill. This year there is only one gun bill on the public list of legislation being prepared. No gun-control bill has yet to be formally introduced, with the session's start just a week away. But while lawmakers aren't as focused on gun issues as they were a... (GunPolicy.org)

FRANKFORT, Kentucky — A Western Kentucky legislator wants to block law enforcement agencies from participating in gun buy-back programs, often used in urban areas to get guns off the streets. Rep. J. R. Gray, D-Benton, has filed two bills to stop agencies and to make it more difficult to destroy guns. "I'm just pro-gun," said Gray, who filed both bills on Thursday, along with co-sponsor Rep. Gary Tapp, R-Shelbyville. "We don't go crushing and destroying $50,000... (GunPolicy.org)
