A loaded high-powered revolver was found by police in a suspected stolen car in Sydney's eastern suburbs yesterday.
The rare .44 calibre Rossi was abandoned by two men who fled police conducting a routine check in Double Bay.
It is the latest in a series of incidents which has police trying to track the sources of an increasing number of handguns on Sydney streets.

Shooting Victims' Suit Against Gun Industry Opens in New York

NEW YORK — The opening round of a lawsuit against gun manufacturers began Wednesday in a Brooklyn courtroom, in a case being watched around the United States.
Observers say the suit, brought by the families of six people killed in shootings and one victim who survived, could do to the firearms industry what similar cases have done to tobacco companies.

NEW YORK — In an unprecedented trial against the gun industry, a lawyer blamed it Wednesday for the glut of weapons in the northeastern United States which end up in the hands of killers.
Attorney Elisa Barnes, who is representing plaintiffs whose family members have been killed or wounded in shootings, wants a jury to hold gun makers collectively liable for the deaths and injuries caused by their products, which she said are marketed in an irresponsible way.
