MIRAMICHI, N.B — Sensitivity towards protests against Canada's new gun laws appears to have played a role in Ottawa's name for the new registration office.

OTTAWA — Accusing the government of declaring open season on gun owners, thousands of protesters from across Canada converged Tuesday on Parliament Hill in a futile effort to nix Ottawa's new firearms registry.
Demonstrators, many waving placards and decked in orange hunting caps, almost drowned out the noon time chimes on the Peace Tower clock as they chanted "Fed Up, Fed Up" to describe their unsuccessful fight.
